Hello CPS Families,
Tomorrow is an important day for parts of North America, particularly for those fascinated by our skies, as a solar eclipse will be visible throughout many parts of Canada. The CBE has indicated a number of precautions to ensure student safety, one of which includes having students remain indoors between 11:50 am to 1:50 pm. This means indoor lunch for students in grades 1-5 and a change in entry/dismissal for our kindergarten students. All morning kindergarten students will be dismissed at 11:30 am. Afternoon kindergarten students should be dropped off between 12:40 and 1:00 pm and they should enter the school directly – there will be no outdoor supervision. We thank everyone for their understanding as we support student safety throughout this rare event.
To recognize our solar eclipse this week, Fashion Friday will be ‘wear yellow’.
We encourage all students to be prepared for muddy/wet conditions on our fields and playground by having an extra set of clothes in their backpacks. Waterproof footwear and spring jackets will be important as we experience the melt of last week's snow!
On Tuesday April 9 our grade 2 students will be hosting an assembly from 9:40 am to 10:00 am. Families are welcome to attend beginning at 9:35 am.
We would like to wish happy Eid on April 10 to all families celebrating the end of Ramadan.
As we move further into April, our school budgeting process begins for the 2024-2025 school year. As previously mentioned, if you know your child will not be returning to Citadel Park School next year, please contact our school office at 403-777-8063.
Our projections indicate an expected student population of 505 students for next school year. Given our school capacity of 481 students, Citadel Park School has a ‘closed’ status related to non-resident students.Administrative Regulation 6090 - Child and Student Registration and Admission outlines the following:
Non-Resident Student: means
- a student whose parent(s) do not reside in the geographical boundary of CBE and/or both parents are of the Roman Catholic faith;
Section 6:
3) Non-resident students are not accepted into schools with closed or limited enrolment status (capped) or that are in the lottery process.
4) Admission of a child or a non-resident student will indicate that registration is for the current year only
Annual Review of Registration| Non-Resident Students
25) Schools must annually review the enrolment of current non-resident students and, prior to June 1, notify non-resident independent students or the parent of non-resident students of enrolment for the following year, either confirming enrolment in the current school or redirecting the students back to their designated school
As per the above information, if you have moved throughout the year (i.e. no longer reside in either Arbour Lake or Citadel) or if both parents are of the Roman Catholic faith, you will be re-directed to register at your designated school for the upcoming school year. Should you have any questions about this process, please contact Principal, Carrie Edwards via email at cledwards@cbe.ab.ca
Did you know that the Citadel Park School Council and Parent Association are hosting a “Spring Fling” on Thursday April 18? Details about the upcoming dance were sent earlier today to all families. The deadline to purchase tickets is this Saturday April 13.
CPS School Council and Parent Association are also hosting their monthly meeting this Wednesday April 10 beginning at 6:30pm. We look forward to having families join us either virtually or in-person. Please see the meeting link below for those joining us online.
