Thank you to all the families who joined us last week for our parent-teacher conferences. If you were unable to attend, please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have questions about your child’s progress. The next formal update on learning will be through report cards, which this year will occur in February 2026 to accommodate extra time due to the fall labour action.

December has arrived and so has the chilly weather. Students will be outside if the temperature is -20 or above with the chill. We encourage all families to ensure that children are prepared for the colder weather and never left unattended at a bus stop as wintery weather can mean bus delays. All children should come to school with winter boots, snow pants, coat, hat and mittens/gloves – preferably waterproof as they like to play in the snow. Labelling your child’s belongings is also very helpful. If your family requires assistance in accessing winter gear please email me directly at cledwards@cbe.ab.ca

We would like to remind families that with the colder weather cars should avoid being in the bus loop until after 9 am. Often cold and snowy weather brings late busses. We want to ensure they are able to access the bus loop as required.

Our CPS School Council is sponsoring a Maker Market on the evening of Thursday December 11. Notices about the market are posted on the doors/windows of the school and families are also encouraged to follow council on Instagram @citadelparkparent for more information.

The Giving Tree, is another CPS School Council sponsored event. If you wish to sign up to provide a gift for families in need, please visit the website at:

We wish to thank everyone who contributed to our Veteran’s Association Food Bank drive. Final donations will be accepted Monday/Tuesday as pick up will occur later this week. This is an important event for our students and community and we deeply appreciate all items donated.

Families are reminded that fees for lunchroom and bussing are now posted in their MyCBE account. If you have questions about fees, please contact Ms. Talerico in the school office between 8:00am-3:00pm at 403-777-8063 ext 0. We would also like to once again remind families that when leaving absence messages on our voicemail, to please speak slowly and clearly and spell the child’s first and last names and include the reason for the absence.

Lastly, a number of parents have indicated they are not receiving emails regarding fun lunches, school swag (sweatshirts) or school photos. These types of messages are considered ‘commercial’ and therefore must be sent as such. Parents/guardians must opt in to receive these commercial messages as per our CASL legislation. See below for details on how to subscribe.

Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and Text Opt-Ins

Don't miss out on school messages!

Due to federal legislation (Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation, or CASL), parents/guardians need to subscribe if you want to continue receiving commercial electronic messages from your child’s school and the Calgary Board of Education. These include messages on school topics such as picture days, student fees, field trip costs, yearbooks, fun lunches, fundraisers and more.

To subscribe to receive commercial electronic messages, go to www.cbe.ab.ca/subscribe to enter your email address and click Subscribe. Please enter the same email address where you receive other school messages and that you use to log into MyCBE, if applicable. (Note: the link will open outside of CBE's website.)
