BRRRRRRRRR! The arctic air certainly appeared on Saturday and it looks like, while we will see a bit of reprieve for the beginning of the week, things will return to frigid temperatures towards the end of the week. As a reminder, please ensure students are dressed appropriately for the colder weather. They will be outside if the weather is above -20. It is important that students not be left unattended at bus stops as cold, snowy weather can cause delays. For more information about CBE yellow school bus transportation in cold weather please visit CBE website at: https://www.cbe.ab.ca/schools/busing-and-transportation/Pages/weather-advisory.aspx This is a great time to remind families that safety to, from and at the school bus stop is a parental responsibility. Our school office is a very busy place after school and we need your help. We have several students arriving in the office each day unaware of their afternoon pick-up plans. Similarly, we are often trying to locate students missing from our bus attendance. Phone calls home in any of these situations can be quite time consuming as we find ourselves trying several different contact numbers to no avail. We are asking all families to please contact the school prior to 2:30pm each day to advise if your child has an alternate after school pick-up plan. For instance, if your child normally rides Bus A but a grandparent is picking them up, be sure the office is aware (and preferably the teacher too) and confirm with the child where the two groups will meet. With kindergarten students and all bus students exiting through the front door, students being picked up should be exiting their regular entry doors. Speaking of entry/exit doors, we are making a change to the grade 3 and 5 doors effective tomorrow. All grade 5 classes will now enter by the door off the playground. All grade 3 students will enter at the back door by the compound/gym. This will help us reduce congestion at our playground door. These new exits for grade 3 and grade 5 will also apply at pick up time. We will be reviewing this information with the students tomorrow. We thank you for your ongoing support as we aim to have the smoothest transitions possible for all students. Changes to our new school hours this year (8:43am-3:12pm) have also meant changes to our school office hours. We would like to remind families that the office is open (i.e. phones are answered) between 8:00am and 4:00pm. These hours align with our bussing schedules to include 45 minutes before and after school to manage any bus issues. Our CPS School Council is hosting their Maker Market this week. Please see other commercial messages sent about this very special event. This will be the winter event for the school as there will be no Winter Concert this year. There is also no December School Council meeting. Thank you to all the families who have signed up for the Giving Tree. All items should be dropped off prior to next Monday December 15 in order for the elves to get to work and have items prepped for delivery by the end of that week. If you have unused gift bags, our elves could certainly use them. Please feel free to drop them off in the office during business hours. Kindergarten registration will begin on January 12, 2026. If you or someone you know has a child who will be eligible to start Kindergarten in the 2026-2027 school year, please encourage them to visit the CBE website at: https://www.cbe.ab.ca/news-centre/Pages/Countdown-to-Kindergarten-Learning-Starts-Here.aspx Important Upcoming Dates: December 10 – Human Rights Day Fashion Friday this week will be ‘Mix and Match’ colours and patterns – be creative! Have a great week! The Admin Team |
