Looks like a beautiful week ahead! To celebrate Sun Awareness Month, for Fashion Friday, students are encouraged to wear their favourite “sunny day” outfit! It’s also a busy week ahead! On May 6 and 7th our grade 5 students will be heading to the Confluence (Formerly Fort Calgary) for their field trip related to the historical study of Canada. Also, on Wednesday May 7 our grade 2 and 3 students will be headed to the Calgary Zoo as part of their conservation project work which they will be sharing with zoo visitors. Families are encouraged to visit the Garden of Champions digital journal which includes our Citadel Park School students sharing their conservation learning. https://designrr.page/?id=425860&token=262232823&type=FP&h=9756 Beginning next week, students from Kindergarten to grade 5 will have opportunity to roller blade around the gym and learn some new skills during our Alien In-Line residency which will last until the end of May. All permission forms must be returned prior to students participating. We would like to thank CPS School Council for their financial support in bringing this activity to our school. Speaking of School Council, the next meeting will be held Wednesday May 14 at 6:30. We hope you will join us. A meeting invite and link will be sent in next week’s message. Our CPS budget has been approved for next year. This budget is based on a projection of 496 students in K-5. Currently our configuration for next year is as follows:
Once again, we ask families to please advise us as soon as possible if they know they will not be returning to Citadel Park School in the fall. Having accurate enrolment numbers allows us to plan more effectively for the 25-26 school year. We are excited to be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5-9! We are super grateful for our fabulous, dedicated teachers who make learning interesting and fun. CPS is fortunate to have such kind, caring professionals working with our students. Tomorrow, Monday May 5th is Bus Driver Appreciation Day. Our team of drivers help our students start and end each day with a smile and they are instrumental in ensuring our students get to and from school safely each day. Other dates of significance this week include:
Another important upcoming date to remember is Thursday May 8th. This is the day that families can begin to register for yellow school bus service for the upcoming school year through their MyCBE account. Families are encouraged to register early to ensure their address is included in the routes our transportation team builds over the summer. This year, more families may be eligible for transportation as a result of changes made to align with Alberta Educations’ School Transportation Amendment Regulation. To confirm eligibility, families will be able to view the “Find a School Tool” on the CBE website after May 7. At that time, this tool will show the new ‘travel distance’ of 1.6 km for K-6 or 2 km for 7-12 which must now be used to calculate the driving distance from a student’s home to the front door of the school. In the past, CBE calculated the shortest walking distance from your house to any corner of the school property to determine transportation eligibility. These changes to transportation have also resulted in changes to our bell times next year. For the 25-26 school year, CPS will have the following start and end times for grades 1-5 (Kindergarten is yet to be determined): 8:43-3:12 Monday to Thursday 8:43-12:40 Fridays We will be reviewing this information at the CPS School Council meeting next week. Have a great week! The Admin Team |
