CPS students have one more week of Rocks and Rings, our curling residency provided courtesy of our School Council and Parent Association. We hope that your children have come excited to share the new skills and vocabulary they are learning.

It appears that curling weather is upon us. The forecast is calling for snow and temps below freezing this week. We have a significant number of items in our lost and found. Please encourage your child to check there for lost items. Students will be outside unless the weather is below -20 degrees Celsius (including wind chill). It is extremely important that all students have warm winter gear including boots, coats, snow pants, gloves/mittens, hats etc. to play and learn outdoors. If you are concerned about your family’s ability to supply any of these items, please contact me directly at cledwards@cbe.ab.ca to discuss. We want to ensure everyone can participate safely outside.

The upcoming holiday season can be stressful for families. The Citadel Park School Council is once again hosting ‘The Giving Tree’ to support families in need. Please watch for further information coming early this week on how you can participate in this important event. Once again, if you are a family in need of support, during this or any time of the year, please reach out to me at cledwards@cbe.ab.ca . The very caring CPS community wants to ensure no need is left unaddressed for any families throughout the year.

Parent-teacher conferences are occurring this week on Thursday evening and during the day Friday. Parents would have received a link last week to sign up. If you have questions please contact the school office at 403-777-8063 ext 0. As a result of conferences, there is no school for students this Friday. Students are welcome to attend conferences with their parents/guardians.

Earlier today families would have received a message from CPS School Council regarding the upcoming children’s Maker Market being held Thursday December 11th.  If you did not receive this message, it is because you are not currently signed up to receive commercial messages. To do so, please visit the CBE website.

Photo re-take day is Wednesday November 26. Any student who was not in attendance during our first round of photos will have their picture taken that day. Families wishing to have a photo retake done will also be called. Please inform your child that they will be having a retake so that when we call children by grade, your child knows to head to the Learning Commons. Details regarding photos can be found on the Edge Imaging website.

We have noticed an increase in students bringing open lid cups/drinks to school with either hot drinks or fruity drinks. These can pose a safety hazard if the hot liquid spills as well sticky floors inside the school. Please refrain from sending your child to school with store bought drinks such as those from Starbucks and Tim Hortons. Air tight water bottles are the best option for students as they can be refilled at our refilling stations/water fountains. Thank you for your understanding as we aim to keep all students safe and our school clean.

Have a great week!
