We have been so fortunate thus far this fall to have such beautiful weather. From what I hear, that is likely changing starting this week…the snow is on its way. As such, we would like to remind everyone that with precipitation of any kind, it is important to come to school prepared. Students will be outside if it is snowing or even sporadically drizzling. Therefore, we urge everyone to dress accordingly, including boots as the field will become mucky. Currently, the ‘lost but not yet found’ contains many jackets and hoodies – maybe this is a good opportunity to remind your child to check for lost items. You may also have a chance to peruse the lost and found during parent-teacher conferences which take place in person this Thursday October 24 from 4:30-8:00 pm and Friday October 25 from 8:30-1:30 pm. Registration for conferences can be completed through your MyCBE account. If you hare having difficulties, please contact the office at 403-777-8063 during school days from 8:15-4:15. While you are attending conferences, you will also have the opportunity to browse our Scholastic Book Fair in our Learning Commons. We wish to thank Ms. Kruger and her team of volunteers for hosting this very popular event. Students will have a chance to preview the items in the book fair this week, however items will only be sold during conferences Thursday evening and during the day Friday. And, Friday is turning out to be a busy day. Not only is it conferences and book fair, it is also the Halloween Dance. Please see previous messages sent from School Council for further information regarding tickets and treats. The CPS School Council would also like to remind families to follow them on Instagram @citadelparkparent for information on events being held. In keeping with CPS School Council, the apples arrive this Wednesday! If you ordered apples through this CPS fundraiser, you will be able to pick them up Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 pm. Please do not enter the bus loop for pick until the busses have cleared. Additionally, Fun Lunch occurs on Thursday – thanks to everyone who volunteered to help out! If you are able to provide an hour or two of your time, CPS School Council could use your help this week to support the above activities. Please see links below to sign up to help: Here are the links for apples and fun lunch. If you have any changes let me know and I can update. Recently, during one of our Friday afternoon PD sessions, teachers participated in a nature journaling opportunity based on the work of John Muir Laws, artist, author, educator and naturalist. We are asking students to come properly dressed for the weather as teachers will be taking their classes outside to journal, participate in sit spots and learn from and on the land. It’s supposed to be sunny, but a little chilly so bring your mitts, hats, coats and boots for fun outdoor learning. Issues regarding the Hug and Go Zone have once again surfaced with parents requesting that we add this information to this weekly message. We would like to remind families of the rules related to this zone and urge everyone to follow the rules to assist with the safe arrival of students at school each day. The Hug and Go Zone Rules:
If everyone abides by these rules, this area actually works well to encourage traffic flow and safe delivery of children to school. Please help be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Have a great week and hopefully we will see many of you at the school for various activities this week! The Admin Team |
