Hello CPS Families, We are excited to be in the second last week of the school year. So much to do, so little time left! On Thursday June 18, students will participate in ‘Switch day’. This is an opportunity for students to go visit next year’s classrooms and see what it is like to be in the next grade. The best part is the grade 5 students will return to the kindergarten classroom where everything is much smaller than they remember! Be sure to ask your child about their ‘switch’! Friday June 19th from 11:15am-12:15pm we will be hosting our grade 5 farewell. Doors will open to 2 guests per family at 11:00 am. Ms. Bates is still looking for about 7 volunteers to help with Sports Day on the morning of Wednesday June 24. If you can lend a few hours of your time, please email her at albates@cbe.ab.ca Upcoming CPS Dates: Sunday June 14 – Last day to register for yellow school bus transportation (see info below) Monday June 15 – Grade 5 Field Trip to Flight Hangar Museum Friday June 19 - Grade 5 Farewell Tuesday June 23 – Indigenous People’s Day Assembly hosted by grade 3’s @ 12:45 pm Wednesday June 24 – Sports Day Thursday June 25 – Farewell Assembly at 9:30 am Other Important Dates: June 20 – World Refugee Day We continue to have a significant amount of outstanding fees. Emails have been sent to families and some fees will eventually move to collections. To avoid this process, please log in to your MyCBE account and pay any outstanding fees as they will carry-over from year to year and they can accumulate into significant amounts quickly. Yellow school bus registration for eligible riders must be completed by today. Registrations received after June 14 will be processed, however this will result in a delay in your child's ability to access the bus in the fall. It can take up to 6-8 weeks to process late registrations which means that those students might not be eligible to ride the bus until October. Additionally, a late registration means your home address is not considered when the routes are being considered when created over the summer. This can result in your child having to access a stop further from your home. So, register early to ensure your address is considered in the routing and that your child can ride the bus in September! Please note: If you are not bus eligible but your child will attend Cancare next year and you want them to ride the bus, you can begin applying for that service on Monday June 15. This would be an application for transportation as a 'conditional rider' within your MyCBE account. Conditional riders are not guaranteed transportation and forms are processed on a first come/first served basis.
