Week at a Glance ~ June 22-26

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads! We hope you have a great day on this summer solstice!

It’s here – the last week of school! And we have a busy one to end the year.

Tuesday June 23 at 12:45 our grade 3 team will be hosting our Indigenous People’s Day assembly. Wednesday from 9:15-10:45 we have sports day. The weather is looking good and we encourage all students to wear sunscreen and hats and dress for the weather. To show support for our Canadian soccer team, students are encouraged to wear red and white or their favourite soccer jersey! Thursday we have our farewell assembly at 9:30 am where we will say goodbye to some of our students and staff. Goodbyes can be difficult, however we wish the following staff all the best in their new endeavours:

  • Ms. Behan-Fossey will be moving on to full-time parenting with the arrival of her new baby over the summer.
  • Ms. Burns will be available for short-term contracts/subbing
  • Ms. Dinishi will be moving to Colonel Saunders as their new Library Assistant.
  • Ms. Edmunds will be moving to Dr. Roberta Bondar School as a Learning Leader for mathematics
  • Ms. Fraser will be available for short term/part-time contracts
  • Ms. Wong will be moving to Simons Valley School to teach music K-6

As we move through the end of the school year, there are plenty of clean-up tasks including sending home student materials. We encourage students to bring an extra re-usable bag to school this week to carry their belongings home.

Ms. Kruger would like to remind families that we have over 400 library books still outstanding. Please have a good look around your home and return any CPS library books to the school as soon as possible.

We also still have over $3500 outstanding in school fees. Please help us avoid a deficit and log into your MyCBE account to pay those fees before year end.

We would like to thank the volunteers who supported the CPS bottle drive to raise funds for our new stage this past Friday and Saturday. Total amounts raised will be shared during the September School Council meeting.

As we head into summer break, Ms. Bates and I would like to wish every student and family a safe and enjoyable holiday. We appreciated the hard work and dedication to learning shown by all staff and students in what was a bit of different year given the labour disruption. Despite challenges, we have a strong sense of community at CPS and we look forward to being like the bison and facing storms together next year. We hope that we can all feel the positive vibrations from your summer holidays and look forward to another great year ahead.

Please note that next year’s school calendar is available on the CPS website and that the first day of school for the 2026-2027 school year is Monday August 31, 2026.

Enjoy the summer!
