What a beautiful weekend! We hope everyone was able to enjoy the last warm days of summer outside! Citadel Park School is excited to participate in the Terry Fox National School Day Run on Monday, September 28, 2026. Students from across Canada will be running that day in honor of Terry Fox and the Terry Fox Foundation. We will begin with an assembly in the gym at 10:30am, followed by the run on the school field from 11:00am–11:45am. Thank you to the parents who have signed up to volunteer at the run! All volunteer spaces have been filled. More information about our fundraising efforts for the Terry Fox Run will be sent on Monday, September 21. Please make sure you are signed up to receive commercial messages so you can receive the email. Schools within the CBE often send messages related to fundraising either by the school or by school council. According to Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) parents/guardians must ‘opt-in’ to receive such messages. Please visit CBE website for details. If subscribing, you will need to provide the email you have on file at the school within PowerSchool. You can un-subscribe anytime at cbe.ab.ca/unsub. Wednesday we will be celebrating Orange Shirt Day and all students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt or a shirt that represents their favourite colour. Our Orange Shirt Day Assembly will take place at 1:00pm on Wednesday and will be hosted by our grade 2 team. Families are welcome to join us and doors will open at 12:45pm . We are looking forward to welcoming families to the school on Thursday September 24 for our Meet the Teacher evening. Families whose last name begin with A-L are welcome to visit their child’s classroom between 4:15 and 5:00 pm. Families whose last name begin with M-Z are welcome to visit their child’s classroom from 5:30-6:30pm. This is an opportunity for families to tour the school, visit their child’s classroom and meet their child’s teacher. As there will be multiple families in attendance, please note that teachers will be unavailable for 1-1 interviews. Should you have specific questions or concerns about your child, please contact your child’s teacher outside of this open house time. There is no school for students on Friday September 25 as it is a PD day. Teachers will be recertifying for the Bouldering Wall and team planning. Every school year there are a number of forms that need to be completed within the first two weeks of school through your MyCBE account. The deadline to complete all forms has now passed. Currently we are missing forms for over 100 students. As a reminder, form updates include demographic information, immigration verification such as visas and residency status as well as any updated legal information such as custody orders. If you have outstanding forms to upload/verify, please do so as soon as possible. All transactions (bus registration, fee payments etc) are completed in the MyCBE account, so it is essential that families have a complete up to date account. If you have any questions about your MyCBE account, please contact our school office at 403-777-8063 ext 0. Students at CPS are on the move throughout the school day. They attend music and physical education outside of their classrooms as well as recess and lunch. This year the schedule for recess and lunch breaks is as follows: Grade 4 & 5 Recess 10:15am – 10:30am Lunch inside 11:55am-12:13pm and outside play time 12:13pm-12:31pm Grades 1, 2 & 3 Recess 1:45pm – 2:00pm Lunch inside 12:13pm-12:31pm and outside play time 11:55am-12:13pm If you know that your child will need to be picked up within these timeframes, please help us by notifying the school in advance. An email to your child’s teacher and/or a phone call/email to the school is always helpful. That way we can have your child waiting for pick up in the office and reduces our need to search for them on the playground during a very busy time.
